Dr. Leigh Anne Swayne is a Professor in the Division of Medical Sciences at the University of Victoria, and an Affiliate Professor in Cellular and Physiological Sciences at UBC. She was a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research and British Columbia Schizophrenia Society Scholar (2014-2019). A biologist by training, her team studies the fundamental mechanisms of cellular plasticity (e.g. growth and development, morphological changes, and survival/degeneration) in the brain and in the heart.

Research Information

The Swayne lab uses a multi-level approach (imaging, cell biology, biochemistry, and proteomics), to bridge critical knowledge gaps in the understanding of neuronal and cardiac cell development and dysfunction.
